Deceptive Analogy
We wanted to see how our solutions stack up to modified malware. Namely, deceptive technology. After infecting our throwaway PC with malware, many solutions stopped the virus from legacy systems to next-generation tools. However, after we modified the malware, they bypassed many tools including industry leaders defensive capabilities.
When we re-installed Deceptive Bytes (Deceptive Technology) onto our PC, the modified malware was not able to bypass it. In fact, it felt very easy to make an analogy out of this
Analogy: In the bustling city of New York, a peculiar event was taking place in the heart of Wall Street. A new bank, “The Beacon Bank,” had just been established. Unbeknownst to many, it was not a standard financial institution. Rather, it was a crafty ruse set up by the established Bank of Orion to distract and catch bank robbers.
Bank of Orion had been dealing with a troubling rise in bank robberies. Tired of the incessant threats and to keep its patrons safe, the bank’s board of directors hatched an innovative plan. They would create a decoy, The Beacon Bank, stocked with marked bills and fitted with hidden security measures. The location was perfect, in an isolated part of the city, and the vault was seemingly filled with bundles of cash, attracting the attention of every robber in town.
Word spread quickly in the underworld about the new, seemingly unsecured bank ripe for picking. Thieves came crawling from every nook and cranny, but as they tried to abscond with the loot, they were caught, one by one, thanks to the marked bills and advanced tracking systems. The Beacon Bank, indeed, became a beacon, attracting robbers and putting them behind bars.
Parallel to this, in the shadowy realms of cyberspace, the Bank of Orion was facing another threat: cybercriminals. Drawing inspiration from the success of The Beacon Bank, the bank’s cybersecurity team came up with a digital equivalent, deceptive technology.
They set up a decoy server, seemingly filled with valuable client information and weak security. Just like The Beacon Bank, this digital decoy, dubbed “CyberVault,” became an irresistible target for hackers worldwide. Intriguing breadcrumbs were scattered across the internet, leading to CyberVault, and hackers couldn’t resist the allure.
Just as the robbers fell for The Beacon Bank, cybercriminals fell for CyberVault. Each intrusion attempt was closely monitored, and when they tried to escape with the ‘data,’ they instead found themselves trapped, their locations revealed to law enforcement agencies.
Both the Beacon Bank and the CyberVault served as game-changers in the security strategy of Bank of Orion. The stories of the bank’s innovative approaches to security spread across the industry, serving as a stark warning to those who intended to breach trust and security, whether in physical or cyberspace.
